What a start - Saturday 14th August

Arrived early in Toronto after a good flight from Gatwick. Picked up the hire car and after one or two wrong turns while the Tom-tom (or Eileen as we call her) got a signal arrived with Ken and Alison at 7.00pm local time last night.  Had a pleasant evening catching up with Alison & Ken and a good night’s sleep.  They really are great hosts and make us feel so welcome.

This morning we were just getting ready to head off to the cottage when Jack & Ian came back – they’d been out riding bikes to the playground round the corner – Jack had hit a curb and fallen off – hurting his wrist and giving himself a bang on the head!  So instead of the cottage, Alison, Helen, Jack & I went to the local hospital to get him checked over!  He’s OK – he has hurt his wrist, and they treat it as a fracture with a cast and a check up next Thursday when we're back in Newmarket.  So this afternoon, he’s in bed asleep – part reaction to the accident, part jet lag – and I’m staying with him, waking him every two hours to check for signs of concussion. Helen & Ellie have gone with the Moss’s to Lake Simcoe – a few miles to the north for a tour round.
